Workshops and Events

We will be offering the following training workshops with a maximum of 9 participants in the handling and injection sessions. Most other techniques will be a maximum of 6 participants, and the Tattooing and Combined Techniques sessions are limited to 4. These hands-on workshops are designed to introduce the participant to the basic techniques in the laboratory rat and mouse. The Handling/Restraint workshop is a prerequisite for participation in all other workshops, unless the participant has had previous training and/or experience in this area. A minimum of 3 days’ notice is requested for general cancellations. Please follow COVID-19 safety guidelines and cancel your appointment if you are feeling ill or have had a potential exposure.

Notes on specific workshops

Combined Techniques — Prior experience or training in the majority of these courses is required. This workshop brings together everything you have learned regarding rodent handling, injections, blood collection, anesthesia, surgical preparation, wound closure, and euthanasia. Come prepared to practice the specific techniques you will be using in your research. Limited to 4 participants per session.

Tattooing for Rodent Identification — Limited to 4 participants per session.

Orbital Sinus Injection — Offered as an alternative to tail vein injection.
